Proof of Academic Achievement

You have the option of attaining the following types of proof of academic achievement:

 

1. UNIcert® Certificate

UNIcert® is a training, accreditation and certification system for the higher education sector.

The University of Greifswald’s Language Centre is accredited for the nationally recognised UNIcert® in the following languages:

Chinese -UNIcert® Basis

English - UNIcert® I, UNIcert® II and UNIcert® III

French - UNIcert® Basis, UNIcert® I and UNIcert® II

Italian - UNIcert® Basis and UNIcert® I

Polish -UNIcert® Basis

2. Foreign Language Certificate

The Foreign Language Certificate is only issued after completion of language proficiency level A1. It is awarded when a workload of 300 hours (for A1 and A2, if applicable 150 hours) has been completed and the exam has been passed successfully. The examination consists of an oral examination and a 150-200-minute written examination. The exams test the candidates’ speaking, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and writing skills (1-2 texts), as well as their knowledge of vocabulary and language structure in levels A1 to B2. Only students who have attended 75 % of the courses for the level being examined shall be granted admission to the exam.

3. Certificate

With the exception of foundation level A1, certificates can be obtained at all levels of language proficiency, if a workload of at least 120 hours has been completed and the certificate exam has been passed successfully. The examination consists of a 100-minute written examination that tests the candidates’ listening comprehension, reading comprehension, as well as vocabulary and knowledge of language structure. Only students who have attended 75 % of the courses for the level being examined shall be granted admission to the exam.

4. Beleg (Language Proficiency Document)

Belege (Language Proficiency Documents) can be obtained at all levels of language proficiency if a workload of at least 60 hours has been completed and a language proficiency test has been passed successfully. Depending on the course contents, the Beleg will be taken as an oral examination, testing the candidates’ speaking and listening comprehension, or as an 80-minute written examination to prove the candidates’ reading comprehension skills and knowledge of vocabulary and language structure. Only students who have attended 75 % of the courses for the level being examined shall be granted admission to the exam.

5. Certificate of Attendance

Certificates of attendance are issued at every level as long as students have attended 75 % of the courses for the level. It can be issued at the end of every semester.
